Frequently asked questions.

What should I bring to my appointment?

  • Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. You may be asked to remove items of clothing so our clinicians can visualise and treat your area of pain.

  • Any relevant imaging (e.g. ultrasound, MRI) reports. Our clinicians can likely view these online but bring them with you if you can!

  • Private health card if applicable.

  • Claim numbers for workers compensation or motor vehicle accident claims.

How often will I need to come for Physio?

Frequency of treatment depends on a number of factors including diagnosis, severity or irritability, your situation and goals and the Physiotherapists recommendation.

At Scott St Physiotherapy we avoid over servicing like a bad smell and will only see you as often as you need to make progress with your condition. Patients will typically be seen twice in two weeks and then fortnightly or longer thereafter. If you’re not making progress with your pain despite a good attempt at your management plan, we consider differential diagnoses, refer for imaging or refer to a specialist.

Do you treat DVA, Motor Vehicle Accident and Workers Compensation?

Yes! We treat all patients. DVA, MVA and Workers Compensation patient rates are set by the government and pay nothing out-of-pocket.

Do you accept Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC) referrals from GPs?

Yep! Patients with an EPC plan are eligible for 5 medicare rebatable appointments per year with allied health providers. Patients with an EPC are charged at our standard rate and then we process the medicare rebate on your behalf.

Can you fix [insert condition here]???

The answer is yes! And if we feel like we aren’t the right service for you or you would be better treated elsewhere, we will refer you on. If you have something extremely rare or unusual, get in touch before your appointment and we will answer any questions you have. Contact us here.

Do I need a referral for Physio?

Nope! Physiotherapists are primary care practitioners in Australia meaning you can walk through the door without a referral from a GP or specialist.

What happens if I miss my appointment?

To ensure everyone has an opportunity to be seen when needed, we expect in the case that you need to reschedule your appointment you give us as much notice as possible. If less than 24 hours notice is given you may be charged a failed to attend appointment fee.
